Description

The primary challenge for the Quality Control Engineer is in identifying application defects (bugs) and ensuring that application releases do not pass validation until they meet the test criteria identified in the Software Quality Control Standard. In addition* the Quality Engineer may be required to conduct analysis or to develop tools to ensure the test process is effective in reporting defects and reducing test time.

This position also involves the challenge of supporting and mentoring Testers and managing fixes with the Software Development team.


Principle Accountability

· Understanding the requirements of the new releases* change descriptions and design documents; and reporting issues with the requirements to the project manager* software development team* and application architect;
· Developing test strategies and test cases;

· Developing automated and manual test scripts;

· Designing and/or executing automated functional and performance testing scripts on new releases* patches and application upgrades;

· Logging defect reports in the bug tracking system;

· Setting up automation environment configurations for functional and performance testing;
· Validating test environment configurations for functional and performance testing;
· Tracking defects to ensure proper resolution on timely manner;
· Preparing releases test summary reports and communicating them to release manager/project manager;

· Participating in solutions discussion and problem management sessions with the software development team* DBAs and solution architects;

· Troubleshooting release deployment issues on the test environments and run the required sanity checks;
· Tracking and reporting testing progress;

· Participating in change management when involved in service change;

· Collaborating with project managers in achieving project milestones* providing accurate estimations* identifying risks* and resolving project issues.
